Helen Cerny, age 83, of Owosso, MI died Thursday, January 28, 2010 at her home.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Elsie Chapel on Monday, February 1, 2010 at 11:00 A.M., Mr. Thomas Bradley will officiate. Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery, Elsie, Michigan. Visitation will be held Saturday, January 30, 2010 from 6-8 P.M. and Sunday, January 31, 2010 from 2-8 P.M. with family present 2-4 & 6-8 P.M.

Helen was born in Eaton Rapids, Michigan on June 14, 1926, the daughter of John and Marie (Trojek) Polehna. On October 25, 1958 she married Frank Cerny in Bannister, Michigan, Frank died April 8, 1993. Helen had resided most of her life in Bannister, moving to Owosso in 1962. She was a homemaker who enjoyed being with her grandchildren, and baking & sewing. She was a member of the ZCBJ Lodge #225 Bannister, Michigan.

She is survived by daughter Mary and Mark Zerod of Owosso, Michigan, 2 sons; Jerry Cerny of Owosso, Michigan, Frank and Chloe Cerny of Owosso, Michigan, 3 grandchildren; Mandy, Maria, Kyler and 1 great grandson Elijah, and a sister Millie.
