Helen Meehan

Helen Therese Meehan, age 88, of Ashley, MI formerly of Lansing, passed away Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at her daughter home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Cyril's Catholic Church Bannister, MI on Friday, January 30, 2015 at 10:00 A.M., with Rev. Fr. Bill Gruden officiating. Burial will take place at St. Cecilia Catholic Church Cemetery, Clare, Michigan. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 29, 2015 from 4-8 P.M. and Rosary will be prayed on 7:00 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie MI.

Helen was born in Detroit, Michigan on November 6, 1926, the daughter of Charles and Irene (McHugh) LePage. She graduated from St. Martin's Catholic School in Detroit, Michigan. On April 19, 1947 Helen married Francis Meehan Jr. in Detroit, Michigan; Francis passed away on November 11, 1994. Helen worked and retired from Mid-Michigan Community Hospital, Mt. Pleasant, Michigan. She and her husband owned and operated Meehan's Fabrics in Clare, Michigan. Helen enjoyed sewing and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Helen lived in Detroit before moving to Clare, Michigan and in 1995 she moved to Lansing. She was a member of St. Gerard's Catholic Church Lansing, MI.

She is survived by 2 daughters; Maureen and Dave Polash, Kathleen and Glen Blackwood, 4 sons; Dennis and Anne Meehan, Michael and Darlene Meehan, Patrick Meehan, and Brian and Joanne Meehan, daughter in law, Ilene Meehan, 14 grandchildren, and many great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, husband, son Timothy, 4 sisters, and 2 brothers.
