Helen Mort

Helen Irene Mort was called home to be with Jesus her Lord, Friday, September 19, 2003, she was 65. She resided in Chapin, Michigan.
Funeral services will be held Monday, September 22, 2003 at 11:00 A.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel with Rev. Billie Gillespie-Brown officiating. Visitation will be Saturday 6-8 and Sunday 2-8 with the family present from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M.
Helen was born on November 16, 1937 in Owosso, Michigan, the daughter of Albert & Helen Marie (Taylor) Latz. She attended Elsie Public schools where she graduated as a "Big Red" from Elsie High School with the class of 1956. She married her high school sweetheart Charles Mort on August 8, 1954 at the Chapin United Methodist Church in Chapin, and together they raised four sons on the family farm in Chapin, Michigan. Helen lived her life as a homemaker, loving wife, and mother, a committed Christian, an adoring grandmother of ten, and a loyal caring friend. She was employed at the Chapin Telephone Company. She enjoyed traveling and stopping at Casinoa�(TM)s. Helen faithfully attended Chapin United Methodist Church and served her loving Lord throughout. She resided most of her life in the Elsie & Henderson areas.
From the shores of this world we are waving goodbye for now are her; husband, Charles Mort of Chapin, MI, 4 sons, Douglas & Wendy Mort of Big Horn, WY, Darren & Lori Mort of Chapin, MI, Don & Amy Mort of Chapin, MI, and Chuck Mort of Chapin, MI, 10 grandchildren, Corey, Spencer, Alexa, Darrek, Dexin, Amanda, Darren Jr., Jessica, Chelsey, and Tony, 1 sister, Ann & Ted Canell of Grand Ledge, MI, 2 brothers, Richard & Rose Latz of Chapin, MI, and Tom & Sherry Latz of Owosso, MI. Her life has touched many, and Helen will be truly missed by all. She was predeceased by her parents, and 2 brothers, Albert & Gilbert.
Memorials may be made to the Chapin United Methodist Church. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel.
