Helen Ross

Age 86 of Bannister passed away Thursday, October 9, 2003. Helen was born on April 5, 1917 in Bannister, Michigan, the daughter of Joseph and Helen (Stastna) Stehlik. She married James (Fred) Ross of Mentone, Indiana on September 5, 1939 in Angola, Indiana. She was a homemaker and assisted her husband in their business, The Ross Grocery, The Ross Variety Store, and later Ross Bookkeeping Service. She was a 50 year member of the Bannister ZCBJ Lodge #225 in Bannister, Michigan, and a member of the Bannister United Methodist Women. She was predeceased by her husband James (Fred) Ross on July 12, 1997. Surviving are her children; Gerald (Kathi) Ross of Orlando, FL, Charlotte A. (Charles) Tabor of Carson City, MI, and Fredrick Ross of Grand Rapids, MI, 9 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren, 1 sister, Ellie Micka of Elsie, MI, and several nieces & nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers, Joe, Frank, and Jimmy, and 4 sisters, Anna Velat, Bessie Supol, Mary Hecka, and Mildred Linman. Memorials may be made to Charity of donora�(TM)s choice. Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 13, 2003 at 1:00 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel. Pastor Diane Gordon will officiate with burial at Ford Cemetery, Gratiot County, Michigan. Visitation will be Sunday from 2-8 P.M.
