Helen Sipkovsky

Helen Sipkovsky, died August 12, 2010, at the age of 91. She was born in Gratiot County on November 27, 1918, the daughter of Joseph and Mary (Lovas) Chmiko. Helen retired from Clinton Memorial Hospital and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church is St. Johns. Helen married Steve Sipkovsky, Jr. June 14, 1941 in Bannister. Steve preceded her in death on June 22, 1963.

Helen is survived by her sons, Steve (Maryann) Sipkovsky, Robert (Cindy) Sipkovsky and Gary (Sue) Sipkovsky; 12 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Sally Foreit, Thelma Rowan and Carole (Dewey) Custer and brother, John (Nancy) Chmiko. Along with her parents and husband, Helen was preceded in death by sister, Mary Fabus and brothers, Joe and Paul Chmiko.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am Saturday, August 21 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in St. Johns with burial following at Mt. Rest Cemetery with Fr. Ken MacDonald as celebrant. The family will receive friends at the Osgood Funeral Home 104 E. Cass St. in St. Johns, 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Friday with a vigil service/rosary at 7 p.m. Memorials may be made in Helen's name to the St. Joseph Catholic Church.
