Helen Irene Smith, age 98, of Elsie, Michigan passed away Sunday, October 17th, 2010 at Ashley Care Center , Ashley, Michigan.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday morning at Smith Family Funeral Homes Elsie, Chapel, Elsie, MI. burial will take place at Lafayette Township Cemetery and Pastor Herb Wheelock will officiate. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 19, 2010 from 2-4 & 7-9 P.M. at the funeral home.
Helen was born in Marion Township, Michigan on August 28, 1912. She attended Lone Oak Country School in Saginaw County. On October 6, 1934 she married George J. Smith. Helen was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wheeler, Michigan. She belonged to the Lakefield Quilters for a number of years. Helen enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter Ruby and Gerald Kienitz of Brant, Michigan, 2 sons Gary and Gretchen Smith of Elsie, Michigan, Ken and Loretta Smith of Oakley, Michigan, 10 Grandchildren, 21 Great-Grand Children and 1 Great-Great Grandchild.
She is predeceased by her husband George J. Smith, on September 28, 1978, one grandson, Alan Kienitz, 2 sisters and 3 brothers.
