Helen Joan Sykora age 76, of Owosso, MI passed away Wednesday, September 17, 2008 at Sparrow Hospital, Lansing, MI.
Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Jennings-Lyons Chapel Owosso, MI on Saturday, September 20, 2008 at 11:00 AM. Rev. Leonard Gamber will officiate. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 19, 2008 from 2-8 PM with the family present 2-4 & 6-8 PM and on Saturday, September 20, 2008 from 10-11 AM prior to the service at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Jennings-Lyons Chapel. A VFW Women's Auxiliary Memorial Service will be held on Friday at 7:00 P.M.
Helen was born in Owosso, Michigan on January 6, 1932, the daughter of Joseph and Victoria (Adamski) Wysko. She graduated from Owosso High School and resided most of her life in Shiawassee County. Helen married Louis Sykora on October 21, 1950 in Owosso, MI. Helen worked as a Prep Cook at BJ's Restaurant. She also worked for Redmond's years ago, as a Head 0Cook for Tiptop Restaurant, J&M Restaurant and for other various restaurants. Helen was a past President and current Secretary for the VFW Women's Auxiliary Post #9455 of Owosso. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother and a Den Leader Coach. She enjoyed doing crafts, yard work and flowers. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. Helen also enjoyed spending time on the computer, cooking and was an avid reader.
Helen is survived by her husband Louis Sykora of Owosso, MI, daughter Lynn Milsho of Spencer, IN, 2 sons; Rick and Candy Sykora of Owosso, MI, Brian Sykora of Owosso, MI, 4 grandchildren; Stephen Milsho, David Milsho, Katherine Milsho, Melissa Sykora, 4 sisters; Verna Pirochta of Durand, MI, Roselyn Geeting of Lake George, MI, Tresa Soukup of Oakley, MI, Josephine Shepola of Elsie, MI. She was predeceased by her parents, 3 brothers, a sister and son-in-law, John Milsho.
