Helen Walker

Helen A. Walker age 87 of Perrinton, MI passed away Saturday, January 21, 2017, at her grand-daughter's home, surrounded by her family.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Ithaca, MI on Friday, January 27, 2017 at 1:00 P.M., with Pastor Jeff Reser officiating. Burial will take place at Fulton Center Cemetery, Perrinton, MI. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 27, 2017 from 11:00 A.M. until the time of service at the funeral home.

Helen was born in Perrinton, MI on August 16, 1929 in the same house her mother was born in.  She was the daughter of Bert and Iola (Norton) Hoffer.  On December 25, 1948 she married Montie Walker Jr. He died October 23, 1982. Helen was a loyal fan of the Detroit Tigers. She loved her Diet Coke & homemade pickled bologna.  She had a special talent for growing flowers and plants. She enjoyed playing cribbage, rummy and pinochle. In her earlier years she enjoyed bowling, camping and trips to Florida. She also had a special fondness for flamingos.

She is survived by 2 daughters: Diane and Buster Gibson of Pompeii, MI, Cindy Grice of Ithaca, MI, and 1 son Roger and Carol Walker of Ithaca, MI.  She is also survived by 4 grandchildren: Jason (Penny) Powis, Ashley (Doug) Gibson, Christopher Grice, and Valerie Powis, 8 great grandchildren: Amelia, Montie, Rook, Jazmin, Nicholas, Dre’, Christian and Victoria, 3 step grandchildren: Craig, Scott, and Sherry and numerous step great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, son-in-law Rocky Grice, 2 sisters: Kathleen and Elizabeth, and 3 brothers: Robert, Harold, and Louis.
