Helmer R. Bloom age 80 of Owosso, Michigan died Friday, October 5, 2007 at Durand Senior Care & Rehab Center, Durand, MI.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Jennings-Lyons Chapel Owosso, MI on Monday, October 8, 2007 at 11:00 AM. Jerry Hammond, Minister, Pastor Ross Fulton & Mark Atis, Minister will officiate with burial at West Haven Township Cemetery New Haven Township, MI. Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 6, 2007 from 6-8 P.M. and Sunday, October 7, 2007 from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M.

Helmer was born in Owosso, Michigan on July 13, 1927 the son of Albin R. and Helen P.( Graham ) Bloom. He resided most of his life in Corunna and Owosso, Michigan and attended Corunna Schools. Helmer married Betty J. Stickel on September 4, 1951 in Angola, Indiana. He retired from GM. Helmer was a member of Swartz Creek Church of Christ.

He is survived by his wife Betty J. Bloom of Owosso, MI, daughter Marcia & David Black of Owosso, MI, 4 grandchildren; Dawn Moore, Kaylynn Black, David Black Jr., Melissa Black, great granddaughter Brianna Proudfoot, foster children; Mary Oakes, & Cheryl Reed, special friends Rich & Pam Keck, also cared for 58 foster children, uncle Earl & Jean Graham, and several cousins, nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents.

Memorials may be made to Childrens Make A Wish Foundation. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, Jennings-Lyons Chapel, Owosso, MI.
