Henry Maron

Henry George Maron age 88 of Ovid, MI passed away Sunday, December 17, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes - Houghton Chapel, Ovid, MI, at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, December 20, 2017, with Pastor Mike Prince officiating. Burial will take place at Maple Grove Cemetery Ovid, MI. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 from 2:00-8:00 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes - Houghton Chapel.

Henry was born in Owosso, Michigan on November 29, 1929, the son of Wendall Emil and Christina (Numerick) Maron. He graduated from Owosso High School with the class of 1947.  He married Marian Rathbun on June 9, 1963 in Ovid; Marian passed away January 14, 2015.

George started Maron's IGA with his brother John Maron in 1959 in downtown Ovid. Later they moved the store to where it is today during the mid 60's. Later on George and John built the Riverside Laundromat in Ovid; they owned and operated it until 1986. George loved attending auctions, taking care of his yard and collecting 8 track tapes. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the Ovid VFW.

He is survived by his children:  Deb and Charlie Smith of Harrison, MI, Sheila and Tim Burgin of Clarksville, TN, Erica and Jim Warfle of Ovid, MI, Henry George Maron II of Warren, MI, Brian Gregg Maron of Macomb, MI, 7 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren, He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, daughter Kathy Maron, granddaughter Stormie Lynn Tobias, 4 brothers and 1 sister.
