Hildegard Keilen

Hildegard T. (Simon) Keilen, age 81, passed away on April 1, 2012 in St. Johns, Michigan. Hildegard was born April 12, 1930 in Pewamo, Michigan, the daughter of William and Julia (Smith) Simon. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Ladies Altar Society. She managed the Min-A-Mart store in St. Johns for 22 years. She married Francis J. Keilen on June 1, 1949 and he preceded her in death on September 1, 2007.

She is survived by her children, Joe (Janean) Keilen of St. Johns, Mike (Cindy) Keilen of Elk Rapids, Ron (Jill) Keilen of Dewitt, Sharon (Ed) Moinet of St. Johns, Ellen (Chris) Halfmann of Grandville, Steve (Lori) Keilen of Sudbury, MA, Gary Keilen of Austin, TX, and Julie Keilen of St. Louis; twenty eight grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. Hilda is also survived by her two brothers, Stanley Simon of Higgins Lake and Gerald (JoAnn) Simon of Pewamo and four sisters, Isabel (Charles) Hewitt of Elyria, OH, Mary Ellen (Terry) Burns of Lansing, Joanne (Jay) Schafer of Grand Ledge and Donna (Kenneth) Fedewa of Charlotte and siter-in-law, Helen Simon. Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Simon.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, burial at Mt. Rest Cemetery with The Rev. Fr. Eoin Murphy officiating. The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Tuesday at the Osgood Funeral Home 104 E. Cass St. in St. Johns with a Rosary Service prayed at 7 P.M. Memorials may be made to the St. Joseph Catholic School Scholarship Fund in St. Johns or the Great Lakes Home Hospice. There will be a meal following the committal service at the St. Johns Knights of Columbus Hall. The family is being served by the Osgood Funeral Homes.
