Howard J. "Jim" Glass, Jr. passed away at home November 24, 2012 at the age of 89. He was born in Detroit, Michigan on December 1, 1922, the son of Howard B. and Evangeline (VanBreemen) Glass. Jim was an accomplished graphic artist who spent many years designing buildings and advertising. Jim started his career after World War II at the Ford Motor Company. He continued his interest in automobiles by restoring Model T's and was a member of the "Tinkering T's" car club. He was also a founding member of the Maple Rapids Lions Club. Jim married Lois Anderson on October 27, 1961 in Wayne, Michigan and she survives him.
He is also survived by his children, Annette (Jeff) Chaney and Randy (Kate) Glass; his grandchildren, Mary and Beth Anne Chaney and Audrey, Kelly and Lilly Glass; sisters, Winifred Maniez, Mildred Domanke, Judy (Dick) Houghton and Jan Gill and brother, Milton (Mary) Glass. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Gerald, Ronald and infant brother, Leonard Glass.
A private graveside service was held Monday November 26, 2012 at the Lowe Cemetery. A memorial service will be held 11 A.M. Saturday, December 1, 2012 at Resurrection Life Church 714 S. Main St. St. Louis, Michigan. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
