Iva Bugbee

Iva Elthea Bugbee, age 96, of Owosso, MI passed away Friday, December 2, 2011 at Oliver Woods Retirement Village, Owosso, MI.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Jennings-Lyons Chapel Owosso, MI on Monday, December 5, 2011 at 1:00 PM, with Pastor Ilko Tchakarov officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery, St. Charles, MI. Visitation will be held on Saturday December 3, 2011 from 6-8 PM and Sunday, December 4, 2011 from 2-8 PM with family present 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Funeral Home.

Iva was born in Havre, Montana on June 19, 1915, the daughter of Glenn S. and Ida May (Current) Bugbee. Iva resided most of her life in Shiawassee County. She was a graduate of Central Michigan University.

Iva was an elementary school teacher for 42 years. She taught for 15 years in area rural schools of; Wert, Dennison, Meridian and Burns, 5 years in Grand Blanc and 22 years in Owosso at Emerson Elementary. Iva retired in 1977 and then volunteered at Washington & Emerson Schools. Iva was a member of Seventh- day Adventist Church of Owosso where she assisted with shut-in ministry. She was a past member of the MEA and a member of the AARP.

She is survived by 2 sisters-in-law; Helen Bugbee of Edenville, MI and Ella Bugbee of Eaton Rapids, MI. Iva is also survived by several nieces, nephews and a very large extended family. Iva always considered her students as part of her extended family. Iva was preceded in death by her parents, 4 brothers; John, Thad, Harrison & Wincett, and 3 sisters; Lorraine and twin baby girls, Fern & Caroline.
