Iva Switzer

Iva Switzer, age 102, of Ithaca, Michigan, died Monday, December 10, 2012 at McLaren Central Michigan Hospital, Mt. Pleasant, Michigan.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Ithaca, Michigan on Thursday, December 13, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor George Showers officiating. Burial will take place in Ferris Center Cemetery, Vestaburg, Michigan. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 12, 2012 from 4-7 P.M. and on Thursday from 10 A.M until the time of the service.

Iva was born in Sparta, Michigan on April 29, 1910, the daughter of Dayton and Tillie (St. Peter) Bunce. On November 7, 1931 she married Oscar Switzer in Edmore, Michigan; he predeceased her on September 22, 1999. Iva was a homemaker and had worked at Hitachi in Edmore, Michigan. She had also owned a gift shop in her home and worked with the 4-H. Iva was active in the Ithaca Senior Center and in her community. She resided most of her life in Vestaburg and Ithaca, Michigan and was one of 16 children.

She is survived by her son Allen and Joyce Switzer of Weidman, MI, grandchildren; Sherry and Randall Evans of Noble, OK, and Larry and Debora Switzer of Brighton, CO, 4 sisters; Irma and Gordon Yager, Lena Peterson, Loreen and Robert Field, Thelma Krick, 2 brothers; Duane Bunce, Walter and Shirley Bunce, many nieces and nephews, including 2 special nieces; Sally Reava, and Phyllis & Edward Lehman. She was predeceased by her husband, 7 sisters; Rhoda Dailey, Olive Bunce, Edna Curtis, Doris Hansen, Delia Hansen, Sophie Edgar, Ina Shurlow, and 2 brothers; Clifford, Stanley Bunce.

Iva's family would like to thank the staff at the Tendercare / Mt. Pleasant facility for the care she received.
