Jack Harrison Oberlin, 96, of Bannister, MI, passed away Saturday, April 18, 2020, at Covenant Hospital, Saginaw, MI.
A Private Family Graveside Service will take place at Riverside Cemetery, Elsie, MI. A public Memorial Dinner and Fellowship for family and friends will be held at a later date.
Jack celebrated his 96th birthday on April 16. He was born in 1924 to Frank and Agusta (Moore) Oberlin in Bannister, MI where he resided all his life.
Jack hired into Fisher Body in Lansing in 1947 at 23 years of age; after 30 years, he retired in 1977 as a Master Craftsman. He enjoyed vegetable gardening, fishing, hunting, and dancing.
Jack married Bina Vincent on July 7, 1973 in Saginaw, MI. Together they enjoyed dancing and gardening. Their favorite place to dance was the Eagles' Club in Owosso to the music of Helen Ann's (Hendrick) Dance Band.
Jack is survived by 3 step children: LaWanda Klonowski, Charlotte Vincent, and Jerald (Judy) Vincent; special nieces and nephews: Alan (Phylis) Moore, Ralph (Jo) Kridner, and Michael (Caroline) Smith; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and many other nieces and nephews. Jack was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Augusta, Bina, his wife of 33 years, brother Robert Oberlin at age 95, 3 sisters: Wanda LaRau age 95, Doreen Kridner age 91, and Doris Moore age 85; and daughter Janet Oberlin. Jack's father lived to be 96 and Jack's goal was to live as long as his father. He succeeded.
