Jack R. Rogers age 72 of Morrice, Michigan formerly of Elsie, Michigan died Thursday, February 8, 2007 at Memorial Healthcare Center Owosso, MI.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel Elsie, MI on Tuesday, February 13, 2007 at 11:00 AM. Pastor Randall Johnson will officiate with burial at Riverside Cemetery Elsie, Michigan. Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 11, 2007 from 2-8 P.M. & Monday, February 12, 2007 from 2-8 P.M. with family present 2-4 & 6-8 P.M.
Jack was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan on October 25, 1934 the son of Asa R. and Beulah M. ( Hafelein ) Rogers. He resided most of his life in Elsie, Chesaning, & Owosso and graduated from Elsie High School with the class of 1952. Jack married Claretta Confer in Owosso, Michigan on December 23, 1971. He retired on June 1, 1990 from Johnson Control in Owosso after 35 years. He loved sports, gardening, dogs, and cars. He was an avid reader and enjoyed learning about history, and he loved to tell jokes. When he was growing up, he helped with the family business Rogers Grocery in Elsie. Jack was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Perry, Michigan and the F& AM in Elsie, MI.
He is survived by wife Claretta Rogers of Morrice, MI, 3 sons; Douglas Rogers of Florida, Dirk Rogers of Greenville, SC, Jason Rogers of Morrice, MI, mother Beulah Chadwick of Higgins Lake, MI, 1 grandson, 1 sister Janet K. Bokros of Washington, MI, and several nieces & nephews. He is predeceased by his father Asa Rogers, and step-father Harold Chadwick.
Memorials may be made to American Heart Association. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel.
