Jack Donald Sandel age 82, of Elwell, MI, passed away Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at MidMichigan Medical Center, Alma, MI.

Burial will take place at Seville Township Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be held at Jack's home on Sunday, August 21, 2016 from 2-4 PM for family and friends.

Jack was born in Elwell, Michigan on July 13, 1934, the son of Harold and Macy (Catron) Sandel.  He graduated from Alma High School with the class of 1952.

Jack married Donna Lee Mary (Root) on February 18, 1955 at Alma United Methodist Church.  Donna passed away on August 16, 2012.  Jack retired from Total Refinery in Alma after 40 years of service as an operations supervisor.  While there he made multiple friendships that he cherished.  He enjoyed camping, canoeing and farming.  Jack loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.  He was a member of the Alma Elks Club as well as the Harrison Moose Lodge.  Jack served his country in the United States Marine Corps from November 13, 1952 to April 9, 1954.  He left the Marine Corp due to his fathers illness, returning home to maintain the family farm.

He is survived by his children; Larry Sandel of Rock Springs, WY, Penny and Jim McCoy of Craig, CO, Kay Rice of Elwell, MI, and Jim and Jeanette Sandel of Craig, CO, 9 grandchildren; Jeremy, Jack, Wes, Seth, Cole, Monty, Charlene, Joe, Dana, and 19 great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Donna and 2 brothers; James Ellicot and Pete Sandel.

Memorials may be made to Alma VFW or American Cancer Society.
