James Francis "Jim" Becker

     James Francis "Jim" Becker, age 90, of Fowler, MI, passed away Saturday, August 10, 2024, at his home surrounded by his family.
     A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Fowler, MI at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, August 16, 2024, with Rev. Fr. John Whitlock presiding. Burial will take place at Most Holy Trinity Cemetery, Fowler, MI. Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 15, 2024, from 2-8 P.M. with the family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. with a Rosary to be prayed at 7:00 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes - Goerge Chapel, Fowler, MI.
     James was born in Fowler, MI on May 19, 1934, the son of Edwin and Revella (Bohr) Becker. He was a graduate of Fowler High School. On April 27, 1955, Jim married Alice Martin in Westphalia, MI.
      Jim loved to fish and visit the family cottage on Chippewa Lake. Woodworking and gardening were two of his passions. Jim enjoyed hunting. Jim loved Polka music and went to Minnesota to see the Big Joe Polka Show, he and Alice even danced on the show. Jim was known for wine making, cider making and home brew. He was always willing to help others and his family knew they could call on him at any time to help. He truly was a family man, his family meant everything to him. Jim was devout in his faith and was a member of Most Holy Trinity Church. He also was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Catholic Order of Foresters.
     He is survived by his wife of 69 years and the love of his life Alice Becker of Fowler, MI; children: Duane and Sarah Becker of Fowler, MI; Neal and Sharon Becker of Lyons, MI; Mike Becker of Fowler, MI; Lori and Don Gilbert of Fowler, MI; Jan and Roy Burnham of Fowler, MI; Amy and Terry Schafer of Fowler, MI; Kay Goerge and John Gutierrez of Fowler, MI; 19 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; sister Georgene Thelen of Westphalia, MI; brother Gerard and Lori Becker of Arizona; brother-in-law Bill Thoma of Fowler, MI; sister-in-law Catherine and Clair Thelen of Westphalia, MI; sister-in-law Adelene Martin of Westphalia, MI. Jim is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Jim was preceded in death by his parents; father and mother-in-law John and Alvina Martin; son Brian Becker; his great-granddaughter and other angels; sister Jeanine and Jerry Thelen; brother-in-law Donny Thelen; sister Virginia Thoma; brothers-in-law Cliff Martin, Bob and Bernadine Martin, Jack and Marie Martin, Dale Martin; sisters-in-law Genevieve and Clarence Simon, Eileen and Bernard Schafer, and Pauline Goerge.
