James J. Fletcher age 84 of St. Louis, Michigan died Monday, January 14, 2008 at Edna Mae Leisurely Living, Gladwin, MI.
Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Louis Chapel St. Louis, MI on Thursday, January 17, 2008 at 11:00 AM. Pastor Steven Young will officiate with burial at Emerson Township Cemetery Emerson Township, Michigan. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 16, 2008 from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M.
James was born in Clymer, Pennsylvania on January 22, 1923 the son of Albert and Agnes ( Appley ) Fletcher. He resided most of his life in St. Louis, MI. James married Elizabeth Smith in Alma on November 10, 1973. She died on September 8, 2002. James retired in 1985 from GTE after 29 years of service. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and woodcrafting. James served in the U.S. Army during WW II. He was a member of CSA, lifetime member of the St. Louis, VFW, Moose Lodge. James was a member of St. Louis United Methodist Church.
He is survived by 3 children; Gerald Fletcher of Atlanta, GA, Sandy & Duane Carl of Harrison, MI, Cheryl & Greg Perrett of Florida, 2 grandchildren; Jennifer & Jeff Parker of East Lansing, MI, Jaime Thill of Holt, MI, and 4 great grandchildren; Jordyn, Mercedez, Chad, & Brooklynn. He is predeceased by his parents, wife, and great grandson Michael.
Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Louis Chapel, St. Louis, MI.
