James Russell Goddard Jr. age 51, of St. Louis passed away Sunday, September 28, 2003 at Laurels of Mt. Pleasant. There will be no services.
He was born on March 6, 1952 in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, the son of James Russell Sr. and Elaine J. Goddard. He graduated from St. Louis High School. Jim (blind since childhood from a disease of RP) dedicated his life to being a friend and leader with the Boy Scouts of America. Jim held the high honor of being an Eagle Scout and worked extensively with Doc. Knowles. He was extremely proud and honored to be part of this organization. He was also involved with being a proud member of the Ham Radio Association. He enjoyed being part of the comradeship and took the responsibilities associated with this very seriously. He was also a member of Gratiot County Low Vision Group. He was a resident of St. Louis since 1966.
He is survived by his faithful eyes and companion; Mr. T., sister, Janet R. Goddard of Lansing, MI, brother, Robin Goddard of Orchard Lake, MI, sister & husband, Pamela (Robert) Drew of Stanton, MI, brother, Randy Goddard of Alma, MI, 2 nieces, Jacqueline N. Drew, Morgan T. Goddard, 2 nephews, Logan R. Goddard and Zachary J. Drew, and also a man he regarded as being his second father, Doctor William Knowles of St. Louis, MI. He was predeceased by his parents, and grandparents.
The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Louis Chapel.
