James Walker MacLennan, age 73, of Bannister, MI passed away Thursday, December 2, 2010 at Gratiot Medical Center, Alma, MI.
Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Elsie Chapel Elsie, MI on Sunday, December 5, 2010 at 1:30 P.M. Pastor Jerry Drummond will officiate. Burial will be held at Ford Cemetery, Gratiot County, MI. Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 4, 2010 from 4-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes.
Jim was born in Farmington, Michigan on November 24, 1937, the son of John and Lilian (Wilkenson) MacLennan. On October 19, 1957 James married Josephine Sipka in Ithaca, Michigan. He worked for Wolverine in Ithaca then Ashley Public Schools for 16 years retiring in 2003. Jim enjoyed playing horseshoes, bowling, playing cards, doing puzzles and sudoku. He also enjoyed fishing and being with his family and friends. He resided most of his life in Gratiot County, in the Ashley & Bannister area. He attended East Washington United Brethren Church, in Ashley.
He is survived by his wife Josphine MacLennan of Bannister, MI, 2 daughters; Pam and Larry Phillips of Chesaning, MI, Penny MacLennan of Saginaw, MI, grandchildren; Jamie, Jeremy, Carissa, and Kady, 1 great grandaughter Lelayna, sister Phyllis and Daryl Smith of Ithaca, MI, 1 brother Rick MacLennan of Ithaca, MI, 1 step sister Mary and Mike Coughlin, 3 step brothers; Harold Fisher, Jim and Ilene Fisher, and Gary Fisher, He is also survived by 2 sisters in law; Janet MacLennan, JoAnn & Larry Beard, 2 brothers in law; Roger Keck, Edward & Barbara Sipka and many nieces & nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, sister Gloria Keck, brothers; Bob & Jack MacLennan, sister in law Lori MacLennan, and step mother Lucille MacLennan.
