James Lewis Morse, age 72, of Owosso, MI died Friday, December 24, 2010 at his home.
Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Jennings-Lyons Chapel Owosso, MI on Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at 11:00 A.M., Rev. Terry Euper will officiate. Burial will take place at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Owosso, MI. Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 26, 2010 and Monday, December 27, 2010 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Jennings-Lyons Chapel.
James was born in Eddyville, Illinois on April 10, 1938, the son of Stanley W. and Reva L. (Melear) Morse. He graduated from Durand High School with the class of 1955. Jim married Kay M. Vanderhoof on September 26, 1959 in Owosso, MI. He resided most of his life in the Owosso area. He retired from General Motors on April 1, 1995, and from farming in 1998. Jim enjoyed woodworking, flower and vegetable gardening, and all of his John Deere tractors. He was a member of Pittsburg United Methodist Church
He is survived by his wife Kay Morse of Owosso, MI, son Kelly and Donna Morse of Flemington, MO, son Kristopher and Carolyn Morse of Owosso, MI, 2 grandsons; Michael Sigafoose and Johnathon Sigafoose, brother Robert and Judy Morse of Kansas, sister Rose and Ted Sergent of Prudenville, MI, sister Faye Wilcox of Bradenton, FL, sister Linda Morse of Durand, MI, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister and brother in law Vivian and Ken Lauderdale.
