James Persing

James A. Persing Sr., age 79, of St. Louis, MI passed away Saturday, May 7, 2016 at his home.

Cremation has taken place and there will be no services.

James was born in Sturgis, Michigan on January 25, 1937, the son of Edward and Hazel (Cady) Persing.  He married Martha S. Troyer on June 4, 1955.  Jim retired from the St. Louis Public Schools as a custodian.

He enjoyed competing in local dart throwing tournaments in which he dominated.  Jim also enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his daughter Dawn and Terry Barton of St. Louis, MI, grandchildren; Timothy (Amber) Kierpiec, Tyler Barton, Todd Barton, Travis Barton, Amanda Gagnon, Angela, Jamie, daughter in law Maureen Persing, step grandchildren; Amber & Chris, great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and best friend Martha of 50 years in 2004, his son James Jr. in 2013 and 8 siblings.
