James Ries

James C. Ries age 55 of Grand Rapids, Michigan formerly of St. Louis, Michigan, died Sunday, August 14, 2005 at Butterworth Hospital, Grand Rapids, Michigan. Memorial services will be at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Louis Chapel on Saturday, August 20, 2005 at 11:00 A.M. Visitation will be Saturday from 10 am until time of service. Pastor Lillian French will officiate and burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery in Alma, Michigan.
James was born in Alma, Michigan on January 28, 1950 the son of Marion & Dorothy ( Hudson ) Ries. He graduated from St. Louis High School with the class of 1969. In 1972 he married Tricia Shinabarger in Stanton, Michigan, she predeceased him in 1986. He resided in St Louis until he moved to Grand Rapid 35 years ago and he worked for the K-Mart Corporation in Grand Rapids, Michigan, he also enjoyed performing as a clown and was a member of a group the went to Nursing homes and hospitals to entertain the patients.
Survivors include he father, Marion "Bud" Ries of St. Louis, Michigan, 4 sisters, Patricia & Ed Slack of
Lansing, Michigan, Kathy & Ray Sitts of Wheeler, Michigan, Shirley & Ed Harper of Houghton Lake, Michigan, Rosalie & Skeeter Miller of Lansing, Michigan and many nieces & nephews. He was predeceased by his Mother, 1 sister Sharon Ries.
