James L. Shaw

     James L. “Jim” Shaw age 73, of Ithaca, MI, passed away Sunday, October 13, 2024, at University of Michigan Health-Sparrow, Lansing, Michigan.
      Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Ithaca, Michigan, Ithaca, MI, at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, with Pastor Roger Shaw officiating. Burial will take place at North Star Cemetery, North Star, Michigan. Visitation will be held on Monday, October 14, 2024, from 5:00-7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
     Jim was born in Lansing, Michigan on September 8,1951, the son of Carl R. and Audrey Jean (Downs) Shaw. Jim graduated from Ithaca High School with the class of 1969.
      Jim retired from Mid-Michigan Correctional Facility, St. Louis, MI in 2016, as a program director. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing cards with his family. Jim was a loyal Detroit Tigers Fan. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict.
      He is survived by two daughters: Jennifer and Wasi Sakin of Flat Rock, MI; Jacqueline Shaw of Flat Rock, MI; stepsons John and Jackie Ney of Middleton, MI; Nic and Billi Ney of St. Johns, MI; sister, Sandra Hinterman, of Muskegon, MI; two brothers: Lawrence Shaw of Ithaca, MI; Roger and Debbie Shaw of Hamilton, OH. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, He was preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter Faith, sister-in-law Carol Shaw and brother-in-law Glenn Hinterman.
