James "Jim" W. Skeen, age 79, of Wheeler, MI died Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at Hearts Content Adult Foster Care in Breckenridge, MI.
Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Louis Chapel on Saturday, October 1, 2011 at 11:00 A.M., with Pastor Ed Kreh officiating. Burial will take place at Ridgelawn Cemetery, Breckenridge, MI. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 29, 2011 and Friday, September 30, 2011 from 2-8 P.M. with the family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.
Jim was born in Wheeler, Michigan on February 20, 1932, the son of Charles Dana and Dorothea Marie (Jones) Skeen. He was a graduate of Breckenridge High School with the class of 1951. Jim resided most of his life in the Wheeler area. He was a retired pipefitter for Local 85, a farmer, and loved his horses.
He is survived by 3 daughters; Dana Marie Skeen of Ft. Wayne, IN, Julie and Dan Steffenhagen of Wheeler, MI, Lori and Jerry Chvojka of Breckenridge, MI, 9 grandchildren; Michael and Bobbie Roszak of Mentone, IN, Melynda Kensinger of Mentone, IN, Rick Kensinger of Warsaw, IN, Elizabeth and Garth Young of Woodstock, IL, Victoria and Chris Seidel of Ovid, MI, Catharyne and Bob Jacobs of Mason, MI, Jenny and Jim Garchow of Alma, MI, Becky and Jamie Wiklanski of Alma, MI, Jodi and Chris Thum of Breckenridge, MI, stepchildren; James and Elvira Nicholson of Virginia, Janet Nicholson of Sheridan, MI, David Nicholson of Lake St. Helen, MI, Terry and Carol Nicholson of Midland, MI, Sue and Ray Brown of Breckenridge, MI, Lynn Ann Tuck and Sonny Rowland of Winn, MI, Dennis and Paula Nicholson of Breckenridge, MI, many great grandchildren, and former spouse and friend Margie Skeen of Breckenridge, MI, a brother John and Tish Skeen of Jackson, MI, aunt Geneva Moorehouse of Okemos, MI, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, former spouse Shirley Steffenhagen, a great granddaughter, and a stepson George Nicholson.
