James Wayne “Jim” Weller age 74, of Middleton, MI, passed away Wednesday, July 25, 2018, at Warwick Living Center, Alma, MI.
Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Ithaca, MI, on Monday, July 30, 2018 at 11:00 A.M, with Pastor Reid Martin officiating. Burial will take place at Ithaca Cemetery, Ithaca, MI. Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 29, 2018 from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.
Jim was born in Alma, MI on January 19, 1944, the son of Wayne and Helen (Treiber) Weller. He graduated from Fulton High School with the class of 1962. On April 4, 1964 Jim married Sally Martin at Ithaca Methodist Church. Together they celebrated 54 years of marriage and were blessed with one daughter Lynette.
Jim proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He was stationed in Germany from 1966 to 1968 where their daughter was born. Jim was the director of support services for Fulton Public Schools for 30 years prior to retiring in 2006. Jim was a member of the VFW #4113 of St. Johns and Maple Valley Lions Club.
Jim loved his family and his dogs. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing trips with the guys. Jim had a talent for working around the yard and garden, sharing its wealth with many friends and neighbors. He loved his wood working and the time in his shop. Jim always had words of wisdom. Jim had a caring heart and enjoyed the students and faculty at Fulton Schools, creating many lasting friendships. He was an extremely kind and fair person, always listening and giving people a second chance.
Jim is survived by his wife Sally of Middleton, daughter Lynette Weller of Middleton, brother Ron (Connie) Weller of Alma, sister Pat (Larry) Houlden of Pompeii, and brother Dick (Kathy) Weller of St. Johns. He is also survived by 2 brothers-in-law and 2 sisters-in-law, several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, by his mother-in-law, father-in-law and a sister-in-law.
