Jane Gute

Jane Eloise Gute age 101 of of Owosso died March 18, 2008 at Chesaning Nursing Care Center, Chesaning, Michigan.
Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Jennings-Lyons Chapel Owosso, MI on Friday, March 21, 2008 at 2:00 PM. Rev. Christopher J Higgins will officiate with burial at Oak Hill Cemetery Owosso, Michigan. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 20, 2008, from 6 to 8 p.m.
Jane was born in Paris, Illinois on October 19, 1906 the daughter of William and Bertha Hockett. She resided most of her life in in Owosso and attended Paris, Illinois schools and Central Michigan University. Jane married Arthur Gute in Owosso. Mr. Gute passed away August 21, 1981. Jane taught school for 31 years in the Shiawassee County schools, starting with one room schools. She was the past principal of Green Meadow School and has a lifetime teaching certificate. Jane loved her cats. Jane was a member of First Church of Christ, where she was the longest active church member. She taught Bible school and played the church piano. She was a member of Retired Teachers Association and Order of Eastern Star.
She is survived by Son: Richard Gute of Owosso, MI, Daughter: Maxine Wiser of Texas, Daughter-in-law: Pat Gute formerly of Corunna, 7 grandchildren:, Several Great Grandchildren & great great grandchildren. She is predeceased by parents; husband; one son, Robert; brother, Roy; and two sisters, Lela and Daisy.
Memorials may be made to Sunday School Department at the First Church of Christ or Shiawassee County Humane Society. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, Jennings-Lyons.
