Jane Platte

Jane F. Platte died peacefully Tuesday March 27, 2012 at the age of 73 in her home, surrounded by her family. She was born October 14, 1938 in Portland, MI. She was the daughter of Charles and Evelyn (West) Mathews. Jane married Stanley J. Platte on May 23, 1959 in Portland Michigan and he survives her. She was a lifetime member of Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Fowler and graduated from St. Patrick High School.

Stan and Jane have owned Mathews Elevator for over 50 years. Since her retirement, Jane could be found on a sunny day in one of her gardens or tending to her animals. On an inclement day, she would be busily quilting, sewing or knitting.

In addition to her husband, Jane is survived by their children, Mark (Joy) Platte, Dean (Lynette) Platte, Gregg (Deb) Platte, Adam (Laurie) Platte, Joan (Chris) McQueary, Peter (Sheri) Platte, Nick (Gail) Platte, all of Fowler, 20 grandchildren, two great grandsons, her sister, Ann Donoghue, brother, John (Deb) Mathews, as well as many nieces and nephews. Jane was preceded in death by her parents, grandsons, Ben Platte, Lee Platte, sisters, Janice Mueller and Barbara Tichvon.

A memorial mass will be celebrated at 10:30 AM Saturday March 31, 2012 at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Fowler with Fr. Dennis Howard presiding. The family will receive friends 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM Friday at the Goerge Chapel of the Osgood Funeral Homes in Fowler. Rosaries will be prayed at 3 PM and 8 PM. Memorial donations may be made in Jane's honor to the Most Holy Trinity Educational Trust Fund.
