Jane Ritter

Jane (Maurer) Ritter went home to the Lord on June 5, 2012. She was born on June 24, 1920 in Owosso, MI. At the time of her demise she was a resident of Pleasant View Nursing Home where she lived for several years. Jane was predeceased by her husband John in 1953 as well as her son, John (Jack) Jr., and her loving daughter, Janis L. Novotny of Napa, Ca.
Jane is survived by her loving daughter Sally (Ritter) Perkins-Grigaliunas of Worcester, Ma. And Jane's devoted sister; Adena Butler survives her as well.
Jane was the daughter of Fred and Esther Maurer who for many years owned and operated the Maurer Bakery in Owosso. Also predeceasing her were her sisters, Rosalind (Maurer) Sanderson, Arloa (Maurer) Shenk and also a brother Esper James Maurer.
Jane leaves her granddaughter, Sheree Perkins and two great grandchildren, Jason and Ashley. She leaves her grandson, Hampton Perkins and his wife Pamela, all of Worcester, Ma. Also two grandchildren Susan Novotny and Sally Vaziri and her husband Ali and three great grandsons, Cameron, Chris and Charlie all of Napa, Ca. as well as Jane's son-in-law, Russell Novotny. Many nieces and Nephews as well.
She took great pride in her beautiful historical home on the banks of the Shiawassee River on Mack St. in Corunna built in the mid 1800's for which she was presented a Blue Ribbon award by the Historical Society. Jane was very talented in interior decorating; therefore her home and talents went "hand in hand". Jane loved entertaining and socializing, playing cards and gardening. She was a tremendous cook in her home.
Jane always cherished her summers spent at the Ritter compound at Meyer's Lake where all the families would gather every year. She loved life which was inspired by watching her family grow and being in their company.
She was a lifelong member of the Salem Lutheran Church in Owosso. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 8, 2012 at 1:00 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Jennings-Lyons Chapel. Pastor James Bare will officiate and burial will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery, Owosso, Michigan. Visitation will be noon until the time of service. Memorial may be made to Salem Lutheran Church, Owosso, Michigan. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, Jennings-Lyons Chapel, Owosso, Michigan.
