Janet Elaine Goodyear, age 87, of St. Louis, MI passed away Saturday, May 24, 2014 at her home.
Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Louis Chapel on Thursday, May 29, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Peggy Ronk officiating. Burial will take place at Ridgelawn Cemetery, Breckenridge, MI. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 27, 2014 from 6-8 P.M. and Wednesday, May 28, 2014 from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.
Janet was born in Saginaw, Michigan on February 12, 1927, the daughter of Vernon Leroy and Frieda M. (Staffeldt) Alspaugh. She graduated from St. Louis High School with the class of 1945, and earned her teaching certificate from Central Michigan Normal. Janet married Leo "Bud" Dale Goodyear on January 10, 1948 in St. Louis, MI. He preceded her in death on November 29, 2004.
She was a lifelong resident of Gratiot County and loved bird watching, cross stitching, knitting, and making and painting ceramics. Janet had a lifelong love of all animals, and also enjoyed playing Bridge. She loved traveling with her special friends Jack and Bev Derry. She and Bud enjoyed many winters spent in Arizona, and summers at Higgins Lake. Janet will be remembered for the love of her flower gardens. She was a member of Breckenridge United Methodist Church.

Goodyear of Breckenridge, MI; son Gregory L. and Donna Goodyear of St. Louis, MI; daughter Barbara K. and Jeffrey McKenzie of Breckenridge, MI; daughter Carol S. Coyle of Hope, MI; son Leo Stuart and Nancy Goodyear of Grayling, MI; 11 grandchildren Brad and Sheena Goodyear of Ithaca, MI; Carrie Goodyear and Jeremy Krueger of Dimondale, MI; Troy and Stephanie Goodyear of Perry, GA; Trevor and Amber Goodyear of Lancaster, SC; Aaron and Gaynor McKenzie of Breckenridge, MI; Adam McKenzie of San Antonio, TX; Kyle McKenzie and Rebecca Johnson of Spring Lake, MI; William Coyle of Hope, MI; Shawn Collins of Clinton, MN; Richard Goodyear of Grayling, MI; Sarah Goodyear of Grayling, MI; 9 great grandchildren; Dominic, Nevaeh, Brendan, Erin, Tristen, Trevin, Aspen, Gerreck, and Griffin; sister Shirley and Fred Czape Ithaca, MI; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son in law John M. Coyle, and an infant sister Dora Mae.
