Janet Goodyear

Janet Kay Goodyear, age 70, of Lewiston, MI, passed away Friday, July 9, 2021, at Crawford Continuing Care Center with her family by her side.
Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Louis, MI, at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, July 15, 2021, with Kim McKenzie officiating. Burial will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery, St. Louis, Michigan. Visitation will be held 3-8 P.M. with family present from 3-5 & 6-8 P.M. on Wednesday, July 14, 2021 at the funeral home.
Janet was born in Alma, Michigan on July 12, 1950, the daughter of George N. and Marion E. (Garber) Root. She graduated from Shepherd High School with the class of 1968. On November 1, 1975, Janet married Michael Frank Goodyear at the Alma College Chapel. They were blessed with 46 years of marriage prior to her passing.
Janet loved quilting and gifted her works of art to her loved ones. She liked to go shopping with her best friend Maggie. She also enjoyed playing cards, gardening, and hot days out on the boat, cooking & baking for family and friends. Janet's role as wife, mother and grandmother was the most important part of her life; she loved the precious time spent with her grandchildren.
Janet is survived by her husband Mike, son Brad (Sheena) Goodyear of Ithaca, MI; daughter Carrie (Jeremy) Krueger of Eaton Rapids, MI; 4 grandchildren: Hailey, Nevaeh, Bryce, and Evan; and 3 great- grandchildren. She is also survived by 6 siblings: Carol Nutter, Jim (Marie) Root, Larry Root, Cindy (Rich) Brune, Pat (Kevin) Brown, and Laura (Rob) Veal; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
