Janice Carol King, age 90, of St. Louis, MI, passed away on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at her home in Zephyrhills, FL.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Seville Community Church of God, Elwell, MI on June 28, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. The burial will take place at Riverdale Cemetery, Riverdale, MI.
Janice was born in Riverdale, MI, on February 21, 1934, the daughter of John Lawrence and Zilla Margaret (Apple) Freed. She married Mark S. King on February 17, 1956; they were blessed with forty- four years of marriage prior to his passing on November 3, 2000.
Janice worked as a retail clerk at Vescios Grocery, Tempo Department Store and Ashcrafts Grocery most of her life. During her retirement years she volunteered at Gratiot Community Hospital and attended the Seville Community Church of God, Elwell, MI. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She felt especially blessed to have identical twin granddaughters, twin grandsons and identical twin great-granddaughters. She will be lovingly remembered for her kindness, love, gentleness, goodness, peaceful spirit, patience and giving, by her family, friends, neighbors and extended family. When relaxing, she enjoyed watching a good Hallmark movie, listening to gospel music and making delicious cookies for others to enjoy, especially molasses. But, most of all, she will be remembered for her life of faith in God and love for Jesus.
She is survived by her children: son Jack Husted of Escanaba, MI; daughter Connie King of Woodland, MI; and son Steven (Genea) King of Jefferson, NC. She is also survived by seven grandchildren: Ashley Husted, Jake (Sarah) Husted, Aaron Husted, Heather Serba, Hollie (Jason) Rafler, Tiffany (Robert) Elliott, and Bryana (Joseph) Augustine; and fourteen great-grandchildren; as well as Wally Robinson, her close companion and best friend. Janice was preceded in death by her parents, first husband Albert Husted, second husband Mark S. King, her siblings: Kenneth Freed, Harold Freed, Gladys Griswold, Harriet Kruger, Robert Freed, Paul Freed, Plymouth Freed, and an infant sister.
