Jean Louise Nash, age 89, of Owosso, MI passed away Friday, December 4, 2009 at Oliver Woods Retirement Village, Owosso.
Private Family Services have already taken place with burial at Lapham Cemetery, Plymouth, MI.
Jean was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan on June 30, 1920, the daughter of Herald F. and Mildred (Tyler) Hamill.
Jean married Bruce Nash in September of 1941 in Toledo, Ohio. She and Bruce have been a shining example of what a life joined together for over 68 years should be. Jean & Bruce initially lived in East Lansing, then Windsor, Canada and then making their home in Owosso since 1950. Later Jean and Bruce spent part of the year in Michigan and part in Florida.
She was a prolific painter, accomplished musician in singing and playing the piano. She also enjoy being a gardener, was active in Girl Scouts for many years and always believed in education which was a very important part of her life. Jean attempted to learn other languages such as German, and Spanish on her own and French in college. She received her Masters Degree from Michigan State University and was very proud that all of her children and grandchildren graduated from college. Jean taught in the Owosso Public School System for approximately 15 years, retiring in 1980.
Jean's gifts of nurturing, unconditional love, encouragement and example have given her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren a lifetime of wonderful memories. Cherishing those memories are her husband Bruce C. Nash of Owosso, MI, son Bruce C. and Barb Nash II of California, 2 daughters; Jackie and Walt Bartnick of Michigan & Florida, Karen and Mike Sommer of Michigan & Florida, 8 grandchildren; Bruce C. and Grace Nash III of California, Brenda and Paul Rivera of Germany, Brad Nash of California, Brandon Nash of California, Jen and Randy Coltrin of Michigan, Brett and Lesley Bartnick of Michigan, Jay Sommer of Michigan, Jeff and Julie Sommer of Colorado, 8 great-grandchildren; Angelina and Aliana Nash, Carlee, Cameron and Casey Coltrin, Cole Bartnick, Michael and Jack Sommer; exchange students Karl and Helga Biebeck of Germany, Miryam Spagnuolo of Uruguay.
