Jeffrey McKenzie

Jeffrey Lynn McKenzie age 64, of Breckenridge, MI, passed away peacefully Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at his home.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Ithaca, MI on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at 11:00 A.M., with Pastor Rick Webb and Pastor Rex Webb officiating.  Burial will take place at Ridgelawn Cemetery, Breckenridge, MI. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 26, 2017 from 6-8 P.M. and on Friday, January 27, 2017 from 4-8 P.M. at the funeral home. There will be a Masonic Service at 6:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home.

Jeffrey was born in Alma, MI on January 12, 1953, the son of Ernest Martin and Nancy Lee (Quibell) McKenzie.  He graduated from Breckenridge High School with the class of 1971.  On November 4, 1972 he married Barbara Kay Goodyear in Alma, MI.

Jeff was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. His family was very important to him.  He never missed one of his sons' games or events. Jeff enjoyed spending time with his grandsons who gave him great joy. Jeff was a farmer.  He could be found many mornings sipping coffee with friends. Jeff enjoyed boating on Higgins Lake where he was a past president and board member of the Daytona-on-the-lake association. He enjoyed classic rock music. He passed his love of music onto his sons. Jeff liked to try exotic and interesting foods and he liked to watch Jeopardy. He played in the Gus Macker Tournaments and the Gratiot County Men's Basketball League. He was a member of Emerson Presbyterian Church and an elder of the church. Jeff was very proud of his Scottish heritage.  He traveled to Scotland and found it interesting to learn more about his family's heritage.

He is survived by his wife Barbara McKenzie of Breckenridge, MI, 3 sons; Aaron J. and Gaynor McKenzie of St. Louis, MI, Adam S. McKenzie of San Antonio, TX,  Kyle R. McKenzie and Rebecca Johnson of Rockford, MI, 2 grandsons; Gerreck A. and Griffin C. McKenzie, sisters; Kimberly and Nicole McKenzie of St. Louis, MI, Kolleen and Terry Phillips, and Debra and Michael Davis, sister in law Carol Coyle, brothers in law; Michael and Janet Goodyear, Gregory and Donna Goodyear, and Stuart and Nancy Goodyear. He was predeceased by his parents.
