Jennie Grandy

Jennie Mae Grandy age 95 of Lansing, MI passed away peacefully in her sleep Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at Addie's Acres of DeWitt, MI.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Ithaca, MI on Friday, January 5, 2018 at 1:00 P.M., with Pastor Mike Hixson officiating.  Burial will take place at Pine Grove Cemetery, Ithaca, MI.  Visitation will be held on Friday, January 5, 2018 from 11:00 A.M. - 1:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Jennie was born in Montcalm County, MI on September 18, 1922 the daughter of Beryl and Ethel (Riese) Woodard.  She graduated from Alma Public Schools with the class of 1939.  She lived most of her life in the Ithaca area.

On June 7, 1941 she married Gareld Grandy in Breckenridge, MI. After nearly 65 years of marriage, Gareld passed away on March 29, 2006.

Jennie loved gardening, quilting, crocheting, and was a very good cook.  She did not like to sit around idle, but preferred to be active.  Jennie was a passionate marble player and loved to play with her family.  She worked in the cafeteria at North Elementary in Ithaca for many years.

Jennie is survived by her daughter Joyce Denning of Lansing, grandson Trevor Denning of Lansing, granddaughter Tana Denning of Lansing, and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Gareld, son Gaylord, son-in-law Garlan, 4 sisters: Viola, Grace, Mary, and Fernia; brother Warner, 3 half-brothers: Bob, Howard and Ralph; and half-sister Lietha.
