Jerald DeVoe

Jerald "Jerry" Arden DeVoe age 57 of Durand, Michigan died Wednesday, December 19, 2007 at his home.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Jennings-Lyons Chapel Owosso, MI on Saturday, December 22, 2007 at 10:30 AM. Rev. John Walworth will officiate with burial at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Owosso, Michigan. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 21, 2007 from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M.

Jerry was born in Owosso, Michigan on June 6, 1950 the son of Arden L. and Marjory M. ( Humphrey ) DeVoe. He resided most of his life in the Durand area. He graduated from Durand High School with the class of 1968 and he attended Mott College for 2 years. He retired in 2007 from the Grand Trunk Railroad after 30 years of service as a Conductor. Jerry liked to read history books. He also enjoyed fishing, and taking care of his lawn and cactus plants. He was a member of Oak Street Baptist Church of Durand, Michigan and the United Transportation Union.

He is survived by his mother Marjory DeVoe of Durand, MI, sister Peggy DeVoe of Durand, MI, brother Bruce DeVoe of Durand, MI, sister Christine Miller of Owosso, MI, 2 nieces; Erin & Joseph Ibarra of Owosso, MI, Angel Miller of Owosso, MI, 1 nephew Adam & Erin Miller of Owosso, MI, 2 great nieces; Rebecca Ibarra of Owosso, MI, Alexis Miller of Owosso, MI, and several cousins. He is predeceased by his father in 1981, and 1 brother Michael DeVoe.

The family asks you to consider that memorials be made in lieu of flowers to The Gideons or the American Diabetes Association. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, Jennings-Lyons Chapel, Owosso, MI.
