Jerry Henschell

Jerry Carl Henschell age 84, of Bannister, MI, passed away Wednesday, February 13, 2019, at his home.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Elsie, MI on Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at 1:00 P.M.  Burial will take place at Ford Cemetery, Gratiot County, MI. Visitation will be held on Monday, February 18, 2019 from 5:00-8:00 P.M. and on Tuesday, February 19, 2019 from 2:00-8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Jerry was born in Buckley, MI on May 2, 1934, the son of Abel Carl and Sadie Catherine (Krusen) Henschell. He proudly served his country in the United States Army.  Jerry married June Ann (Godfrey) Smith in 1970; June passed away October 30, 2015.

Jerry retired from General Motors in Flint, MI. He enjoyed fishing, golfing and trips to the casino. Jerry loved watching pro football and pro baseball games. Spending time with his family was very important to him. Jerry and June attended the Living Word Church in Ovid for many years.  Jerry resided most of his life in the Ovid and Elsie areas.

He is survived by son Frederick and Lori Smith of Bannister, MI;

daughter Lori and Ron Lamb of Olympia, WA; son Walt and Shannon  Smith of Munising, MI; daughter Jerry Sowers of Kansas; 16 grandchildren; and 18 great grandchildren. He is also survived by brothers: William Henschell, Don Henschell, Mike Henschell, sister Ruth (Bruce) Henschell, and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, wife June, siblings: Richard Henschell, Gertrude Henschell, Cecil Henschell, Melba Paselk, Mary Mollbendor, Jack Henschell, Dorothy Buchan, Ethel David, and Leonard Henschell.
