Jimmie Lee Kostal, age 71, of Ashley, MI, passed away Friday, October 26, 2018, at Schnepp Health Care Center, St. Louis, MI.
Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Elsie, MI, on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at 2:00 P.M., with Pastor Dave Perry officiating. Burial will take place at Ford Cemetery, Gratiot County, MI at a later date. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 2, 2018 from 2-8 P.M. with the family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.
Jim was born in Ashley, MI on February 19, 1947, the son of Karel "Charlie" and Aleatha (Stewart) Kostal. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during Vietnam. Jim married Marge Mayall on September 15, 2001, at First Church of God, Owosso, MI.
Jim retired from General Motors as a fork truck driver. Jim and his son owned and operated Jim's Stump Grinding and Tree Trimming, Ashley, MI. He enjoyed going to flea markets, auctions, and collecting antiques and memorabilia. He liked spending time in the outdoors and hunting. He loved attending family get togethers. He attended Edgewood Church of God, Ithaca, MI. Jim was a member of the Pixi Cruiser's Car Club, and the Salvation Army.
He is survived by his wife Marge Kostal of Owosso, MI; son Jason and Nikki Kostal of Bannister, MI; step daughter Angela and Rory Durling of Owosso, MI; step son John Turk of Durand, MI; daughter in law Jamie Kostal of Winn, MI; grandchildren: Jimmie, Paige, Jena, Tatem, Jacquelyn, Seth, Susie, JD, Kyler, and Jaxson; brother Glenn and Leah Kostal of Breckenridge, MI; sister Donna Merignac of Ashley, MI; sisters in law: Crystal Kostal of Indianapolis, IN; Jean Kostal of Merrill, MI. He is also survived by brothers in law Jimmie Mayall of OK, Perry Mayall of KY, sisters in law Mikki and Wassim Safi of Owosso, MI, and Sue Mayall of KY, mother in law Jeanette Mayall of Owosso, MI and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Jimmie, grandson Jamie, brothers KC, AC, Jumper, and Lan, and brothers in law; Rollie Merignac, and Yogi Mayall.
