Joan Holbrook

Joan M. Holbrook, age 80, of Owosso, MI passed away Tuesday, December 21, 2010 at her home.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Corunna Chapel Corunna, MI on Thursday, December 23, 2010 at 1:00 P.M. Pastor Rick Bowen will officiate. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery, Owosso. Visitation will be held on Wednesday December 22, 2010 from 2-8 PM with family present 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Funeral Home.

Joan was born in Owosso, Michigan on September 19, 1930, the daughter of Bruce and Minnie (Speigel) Fry. She was a 1948 graduate of Owosso High School. She resided most of her life in Owosso, Corunna and Henderson. Joan married Louis Holbrook on July 28, 1948 in Owosso, MI. He passed away on June 5, 1995.

Joan worked for the Corunna Public Schools as a cashier in the lunch program. She enjoyed oil painting and crafts. Joan was a member and very active with Victory Baptist Church of Owosso. She taught Sunday School and drove many to church. Joan loved working in her flower gardens. She also volunteered her time with many different organizations in the area.

Joan is survived by her son Bruce Holbrook of Williamston, MI, daughter Sheila Holbrook of Tampa, FL, son David Holbrook of Tampa, FL, daughter-in-law Beverly Holbrook of Beulah, MI, 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Louis Holbrook, brother Bruce Fry Jr. and sister Barbara Haak.
