Joanne Barrett

Joanne L. Barrett age 84, of Pompeii, MI, passed away Sunday, June 18, 2017, at The Laurels of Carson City, Carson City, MI surrounded by her family.

Memorial Service will be held at Pompeii United Methodist Church, Pompeii, MI, on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at 11:00 A.M., with Pastor Mona Dye officiating. Burial will take place at Collier Cemetery, Gratiot County, MI.

Joanne was born in St. Johns, MI on August 22, 1932, the daughter of Rolla George and Mary Luella (Henry) Evitts. On September 16, 1950 she married Milton D. Barrett in Bridgeville, MI; Milton died February 16, 2004.

Joanne was the Postmaster of Pompeii for over 30 years. She enjoyed reading, playing cards, knitting and cooking. Spending time with her family was the most important thing in her life. She attended Pompeii United Methodist Church and was a member of the Rebekah Lodge 194, Pompeii, MI.

She is survived by her 3 daughters; Sue Greer of Ithaca, MI, LuAnn Tackett of Ithaca, MI, Laura and Marc Andrews of Ashley, MI, 2 sons; Scott and Bonnie Barrett of Ithaca, MI, Shane and Holly Barrett of Williamsburg, MI, 15 beloved grandchildren, and 24 beloved great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother Keith Evitts.
