Joanne A. Sisco, age 93, of Elsie, MI, passed away Sunday, February 12, 2023, at her sons home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Cyril's Catholic Church, Bannister, MI, at 12:00 P.M. on Friday, February 17, 2023, with Fr, Raj Bandaru presiding. Burial will take place at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Owosso, MI. Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 16, 2023 from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes Elsie, MI. A Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 P.M. on Thursday at the funeral home.
Joanne was born in Duplain Township, Michigan on April 16, 1929, the daughter of George J. and Mamie G. (Burnham) Pope. Joanne was the youngest of 6 and was orphaned at the age of 7. She was taken in by the Fitzgerald family from Westphalia and they raised her until her 17th birthday. After she turned 17 her sister Eva took her in and she lived with her until she was able to be out on her own.
Joanne married Lawrence Riley Sisco on November 26, 1965, in Lake George, Michigan. They renewed their vows on October 18, 2001, at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Owosso, Michigan. They were blessed with forty-six years of marriage, prior to his passing on November 5, 2012.
Joanne worked various jobs throughout her life: selling Tupperware, Avon, Tops and Toys, and Woodard in Owosso. She was a wonderful homemaker, always cooking & baking for her family. Joanne was an avid seamstress, enjoyed scrap booking and photography. She loved doing crafts of all kinds with her grandchildren. Above all, her family was most important to her. She was a member of St. Cyril's Catholic Church Bannister, MI 48807.
She is survived by her sons: Lawrence and Holly Sisco of Lansing, MI; Peter Welter, III of Ovid, MI; daughters: Lori Jones of Elsie, MI; Faith and Jerome Waterous of Beaverton, MI; Paula Welter of Carland, MI; and Carolyn Welter of Elsie, MI. She is also survived by grandchildren: Amy, Leslie, Andy, Ryan, Genna, Krissy, Jon, Terezia, and Dylan; great- grandchildren: Gina, Carson, Ava, Grace, Karly, Jace, Tyrus, Ryland, Bryson, Kayden, Gregory, and Lauren; and many step-children and step-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lawrence, son John, her siblings: Vena, Terezia, George Jr., Victor, Eva and two infant sisters.
