Joel Bergren

Joel Shane Bergren age 47, of Ithaca, MI, passed away Sunday, August 21, 2016, at McLaren Northern Michigan Hospital in Petoskey, Michigan.

Memorial Service will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Ithaca, MI, on Friday, September 16, 2016 at 1:00 P.M., with Mr. Mark Hull and Pastor George Showers officiating. Burial will take place at the Farwell Cemetery, Farwell, Michigan.  Visitation will be held on Friday, September 16, 2016, from 11:00 A.M. until the time of service.

Joel was born in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan on September 16, 1968, the son of Charles Louis Bergren and Bonnita Lynn (Six) Smith.  Joel graduated from Farwell High School with the class of 1986.  He had worked for Roger Oberlitner Well Drilling in Pompeii. Michigan.  Joel enjoyed riding dirt bikes, mud bogging, and working on cars. He also enjoyed riding his bicycle and working on electronics.

He is survived by his twin sons; Jared and Jordan Bergren, mother of his children Jennifer Stevens, mother & step father Bonnita, and Larry Smith, step sister Nikki Smith, step brother Kenton Smith, father Charles Bergren, half sister Becca and John Lofquist, half brother Walter and Stacy Bergren, his aunt Connie Oberlitner and her daughters; Holly, Heidi, Heather and Honey, nephew Christian Chapman, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.  He was predeceased by his sister Micah Bergren, grandparents; Howard and Vera Six, Walter and Mildred Bergren, his uncle Roger Oberlitner, aunt Joyce Bratzburg, and 2 nieces; Jasmine Sheets, and Ashley Chapman.
