John Elkins

John Milton Elkins age 90 of Corunna, Michigan died Thursday, January 5, 2006.

Funeral Services will be held at Corunna United Methodist Church Corunna, MI, on Monday, January 9, 2006 at 11:00 AM. Pastor Norm Beckwith will officiate with burial at Pine Tree Cemetery Corunna, Michigan. Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2006 from 6-8 P.M. and Sunday, January 8, 2006 from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. A Masonic Service will be held on Sunday Evening at 7:30 P.M.

John was born in Corunna, Michigan on July 31, 1915 the son of John and Mildred ( Kinney ) Elkins. He was a life long resident of Corunna, MI and graduated from Corunna High School. John married Pauline Melvin on August 21, 1940 in Bancroft, MI. He retired in 1978 from Fisher Auto Body in Flint, MI. He enjoyed being a member of the Shriner's Fire Brigade and doing parades with them. John was an avid sports fan and followed the Tigers and the Lions. He was a member of the Corunna United Methodist Church for 70 years and in the church choir for 30 years. He was also a member of the Shriner's, Owosso Lodge, Kiwianis, Shiawassee Fire Brigade, and the Masonic Lodge #81 of Owosso, MI.

He is survived by his daughter Shirley K. Langdon of Owosso, MI, son Donald W. Elkins of Owosso, MI, daughter, Rosemary & David Gilbert of Corunna, MI, 7 grandchildren, Kristine & Sherman Holdorf, Kimberly Puffer, Kelly Elkins, Josh Elkins, Kyle Elkins, jason Gilbert and Ryan Gilbert. 10 great grandchildren, 2 sisters; Amber Weber, and Gladys & Don Vibbert. He was predeceased by his parents, wife Pauline in 1995, 4 brothers, and 6 sisters.

Memorials may be made to the Shriner's. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, Corunna Chapel.
