John "Jack" Gavin Freeman age 80, of Corunna, MI passed away peacefully at home with his family at his side on Wednesday, January 14, 2009.
Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Corunna Chapel Corunna, MI on Saturday, January 17, 2009 at 10:00 A.M., Chaplain Beverly Adcock will officiate. Burial will take place at Yerian Cemetery, Venice Township, MI. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 15, 2009 from 6-8 P.M. and Friday, January 16, 2009 from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes Corunna, MI.
Jack was born in Owosso, Michigan on June 18, 1928, the son of Orville and Inez (Forrester) Freeman. He resided most of his life in Corunna, Michigan and attended New Haven School. Jack married Josephine LeCureux on March 10, 1951 in Owosso, Michigan. Jack was a life long farmer in Venice Township. When he was younger he always wanted to become an auctioneer. He was a member of Farm Bureau, Agriculture Stabilization Conservation; 1976 Honorary F.F.A. mention, and also served on the Venice Township Planning Committee.
He is survived by his wife Josephine Freeman of Corunna, MI, three sons: Marvin Freeman of Huntington, IN, Deryl and Erma Freeman of Corunna, MI, Randall and Laurie Freeman of Lennon, MI, one daughter Sandra and Steve Hall of Corunna, MI, five grandchildren; Timothy Hall, Kyle Freeman, Chad Freeman, Mitchell Freeman, and Matthew Freeman, sister Doris Conn of Owosso, MI, brother Orville and Thelma Freeman of Owosso, MI, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, one sister Jean Marks, and several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.
Memorials may be made to the Arthritis Association, American Heart Association, American Diabetes Association, the Durand FFA or the Corunna FFA.
