John Gay

John Lewis "Louie" Gay, age 89, of Breckenridge, passed Friday, July 26th, 2013 at Schnepp Health Care Center in St. Louis, MI. Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Louis Chapel on Tuesday, July 30th at 11:00 A.M. Burial will take place at Wheeler Township Cemetery in Wheeler, MI. Visitation will be held on Monday 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes.

John was born in Lafayette Twp. Gratiot Co., Michigan on June 27, 1924, the son of Clarence Isaac and Ruth (Snyder) Gay. He married Joy Maxine (Cameron) Gay on October 25, 1952 in Breckenridge, MI. She preceded him in death on June 22, 2003. John was a lifelong resident of the Breckenridge/Wheeler area. He retired from Dow Chemical in 1982, after 34 years. He served his country in WWII as a Sgt. in the Army Air Corp. in the South Pacific. John loved his family, especially taking the grandchildren out to eat on their birthdays.

He is survived by 2 children Robert and Susanne Green of Alma, MI; Douglas and JoAnne Green of Breckenridge, MI; 6 grandchildren Robert Green Jr., Lisa and Doug Christiansen, Carrie and Rick Jones, Julie and Mike Leen, Keith and Tiffany Green, and Scott Green; 14 great grandchildren; sister Charlene Gallop of Utah; son John Gay Jr.; sister in law MaryRuth Gay of Merrill, MI; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a brother Clarence "Bud" Gay; 2 brothers in law Elwood Cameron and Roy Cameron.
