John C. Green age 66 of Alma, Michigan died Saturday, January 26, 2008 at Gratiot County Medical Center in Alma, Michigan. Funeral services will be at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Louis Chapel on Wednesday, January 29, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. Pastor Lane Hassloch will officiate and visitation will be on Tuesday, January 29, 2008 from 2-8 P.M. with the family present 2-4 & 6-8 P.M.
John was born on June 2, 1941 in Fulton Township, Michigan, the son of Cecil P. & Helen ( Cretty ) Green. He resided most of his life in Gratiot County, Michigan. He attended St. Johns Public Schools and graduated while he was serving in the U.S. Military. John married Janis I. Franks on June 19, 1976 in Riverdale, Michigan, he retired from the Michigan Labors Union in Road Construction. He was in the U.S. Army from 1958-1961 and then he re-enlisted. He enjoyed spending his spare time with his grandchildren. He also liked to play golf and have coffee with his friends.
Survivors include his wife, Janis Green of Alma, Michigan, 4 daughters, Colleen & James Goad of Charlotte, Michigan, Jenniffer & Billy Ricks of Texas, Sue McGill & fiancé Jeff Behr of Midland, Michigan, Rhonda & Fred Best of Alma, Michigan, 10 grandchildren, Justin & Heather Atwell, Rachael Coppens, Robert & Katie Coppens III, Jared Atwell, Jaci Lafountain, Alex Best, Tiffiny McGill, Amber McGill, Dalton Wilson, and Dana Best. 4 great-grandchildren, Jayden Atwell, Justice Atwell, Jenson Atwell, Kyle Coppens. 3 sisters, Dorothy Buchanan of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Minnie Green of Lansing, Michigan, Ruth Rogers of Lansing, Michigan, 2 brothers, Paul & Mary Green of Elwell, Michigan, Lon & Ann Green of Grand Rapids, Michigan, 2 brother-in laws, Denny & Sandy Franks of Vestaburg, Michigan, Bob & Beth Franks of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, 2 sister- in-laws, Marlene Franks of Ithaca, Michigan, Elizabeth Green of Addison, Michigan. He was predeceased by his parents, 2 brothers; Lyle Green & Richard Green, 2 sisters; Grace Loomis & Sharon Riley.
