John Hayes

John Vincent Hayes, age 82, of Ithaca, Michigan passed away Thursday, May 21, 2009 at Carson City Hospital, Carson City, MI.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Ithaca Chapel, Ithaca, MI on Saturday, May 23, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. Jo Jones will officiate. Burial will take place at Ithaca Cemetery, Ithaca, MI. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 22, 2009 from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Ithaca Chapel.

John was born in Detroit, Michigan on October 30, 1926, the son of Fred J. and Bernice Emma (Durfee) Hayes. He was a general laborer around Ithaca for most of his life. John enjoyed his birthday parties with his family. He enjoyed watching and riding trains and fire engines. His nieces and nephews were his pride and joy. John was a friend to everyone he met. John resided in Gratiot County most of his life. He was a member of the Food for Friends at the Ithaca Seniors Center.

He is survived by two sisters; Rosalie and Bill Davis of Ithaca, MI. and Freeda Brownridge of Clare, MI, three brothers; Kenneth and Sharon Hayes of Ithaca, MI, Richard and Cathy Hayes of Ithaca, MI, Terry and Helen Hayes of Ithaca, MI, one brother-in-law Alton Boyle, and several nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by his parents, three sisters, Lois, Carol, and Laurel, and one brother-in-law Don Brownridge
