John William "Poppa" Hoogewind

     John William "Poppa" Hoogewind, age 71, of St. Johns, MI, passed away Monday, May 2, 2022, at his home with his family by his side.

     John was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan on January 15, 1951, the son of John and Nellie (Dykstra) Hoogewind.  He served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.  On July 11, 2005, John married Kimberly Ann Morse in Ionia, MI.

     John enjoyed being a hippie, fishing and smoking weed. He was very proud of his Native American heritage.  He was known for his stubbornness. John loved his family and his daily hugs from his grandkids.

     John is survived by his wife Kim Morse; 5 daughters: Danielle (Jon) Isenhower of Ovid, MI; Angela (Ron) Larsen of Lansing, MI; Crystal (Jeff) Bickley of Laingsburg, MI; Jodie Hoogewind of FL, and Nora Hoogewind of Battle Creek, MI; son Robert Hoogewind of the U.P., grandchildren: McKenzie, Myron, Myles, Sean, Jace, Liam, Isaiah, Ethan, Autumn, Elijah, Bella, and many more; sister Judy (Dale) Lester, brother Terry Hoogewind and many nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents.
