John Hufnagel

John Peter Hufnagel, age 81, of Apache Junction, Arizona formerly of St. Johns, Michigan died Monday, July 30, 2012 at Hospice of the Valley, in Mesa, Arizona.

Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Johns Chapel, St. Johns, MI. Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until time of service.

John was born in Ingham County, Michigan on December 17, 1930, the son of Roman and Delores (Droste) Hufnagel. He served his country in the US Army and resided most of his life in St. Johns, Michigan moving to Arizona 15 years ago. He retired from Federal Mogul after 30 years of service and he enjoyed hunting, and fishing.

He is survived by 2 daughters: Judy and Dean Dollarhite of St. Johns, Michigan, Connie and Thad Cartwright of Ashley, Michigan, son David and Trisha Hufnagel of St. Johns, Michigan, his grandchildren; Alison, Nicole, Tara, Kelsey, Jaclyn, Jameson, and Erickson, 7 great grandchildren, 3 sisters; Ann Marie Pahl, Janice and Sheldon Parker, Karen and Larry Schafer, 5 brothers; Elon and Wanda Hugnagel, Carl and Joanne Hufnagel, Jerry Hufnagel, Larry and Gayle Hufnagel, Frank Hufnagel, and John's companion for many years, Nancy Kurncz of Owosso, Michigan. John was predeceased by his parents, and his children's mother Louise. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of St. Johns or the Beacon of Hope Project at First Baptist Church of St. Johns.
